The session will also provide information on consumer protection as well as an overview of Utility Energy Efficiency Programs.

Learning About Last Wills & Living Trusts

State Rep. Matt Smith is partnering with Neighborhood Legal Services Association to offer this free Older & Wiser Seminars for area seniors, their family members and caregivers.

This seminar will focus on Last Wills and Living Trusts. Smith said that it is important to know how these two legal documents differ. The seminar will address wills and trusts as well as the myths and misconceptions associated with them. Seniors will also learn how long probate takes, information on the expense of wills and living trusts, and more.

Document Shredding and Recycling Event

Smith is partnering with Green Tree Borough to offer a free shredding event for residents of the 42nd Legislative District. As part of his continued effort to promote awareness on the dangers of identity theft, and to provide assistance to those who may have been victimized, Smith is hosting this opportunity for residents to dispose of sensitive documents they no longer need.

Residents can bring boxes of unwanted documents that contain personal information, including Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and bank account numbers. Common types of unwanted items that should be shredded include credit card statements, credit card applications, bank statements, canceled checks, income tax information and insurance records. Document shredding will occur on site with the shredded paper to later be recycled.
