Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport to receive $30,000 grant
STROUDSBURG Dec. 6 – State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, announced today that the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport was awarded $30,000 in grant funding.
The funding will be used to acquire necessary equipment to maintain the airfield. The Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport is one of 26 airports across the state to receive a combined total of more than $6 million in state grants.
“Investments into the upkeep and maintenance of the airport are necessary,” Madden said. “The airport provides significant and positive economic impact on our region, and this funding aids in assuring operations will continue to be safe and efficient.”
The investments include $2.2 million in state funding from the state Transportation Department’s Aviation Development Program, which comes from the state’s jet fuel tax, and $4 million from the multimodal fund.
