Rep. Robert F. Matzie
16th Legislative District
Allegheny and Beaver counties
Audio Clips
Rep. Rob Matzie, D-Beaver/Allegheny, has introduced legislation that would amend the Tax Reform Code to add the crushing, milling and sizing of fused aluminum to the definition of processing. Under current law, companies performing these actions are assessed a sales tax on a wide variety of items, including their manufacturing equipment purchases, and other necessities of the production process, such as leased forklifts and electrical power. Matzie's bill would exempt these types of companies from the sales tax.
Rep. Matzie has asked state Treasurer Rob McCord to halt payments requested by the office of Gov. Tom Corbett to NICUSA Inc.
Rep. Matzie discusses his concern over Internet convenience fees. He is introducing legislation that would require legislature approval for any such fees.
