Matzie: $400,000 grant to fund freight rail storage track in Allegheny County

Project will enhance freight rail car capacity, create jobs

HARRISBURG, April 29 – A $400,000 state grant will fund the construction of additional freight rail storage track in Allegheny County, state Rep. Rob Matzie, D-Beaver/Allegheny, announced today.

Matzie said the grant to Leetsdale Industrial Corp. will boost commerce while generating area jobs.

“Construction of additional storage track will allow for increased rail car capacity and more efficient storage and transportation of goods and materials,” Matzie said. “That adds up to greater productivity for our area businesses and industries. At the same time, the project will create jobs that sustain area families. It’s an investment that benefits everyone.”

Matzie said the grant will fund the construction of one-half mile of storage track.
