Delaware County receives $1.4M for countywide services, including for women

HARRISBURG, June 13 – Members of the House Democratic Southeast Delegation today lauded the announcement of more than $1.4 million in grants for Delaware County family, women, victim and related countywide services.

“The public investments coming to our communities in Delco reflect the hard work and collaboration among its citizens and public servants first and foremost,” said state Rep. Margo Davidson, D-Delaware. “I’d also like to thank the Wolf administration for putting public money back into the hands of the people.”

The grants were approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency at its meeting Wednesday.

“Helping a victim become a survivor is the kind of work we must support with all our might,” said Rep. Mike Zabel, D-Delaware. “It is not easy work, and it often comes at a price that exceeds what local taxes can support. Any time that the state invests in the systems working on the ground directly with people, we’re delivering literal hope to those who need it most.”

“I have been to visit service providers here in Delaware County and have seen firsthand the need for these services. The difference this funding makes is truly life-changing for survivors, women, children, their families and our community,” said Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware. “I will always fight for survivors.”

“Congratulations to these hardworking groups that go to work for the people who need it most in Delco,” said Rep. David M. Delloso, D-Delaware. “Your hard work reflects highly in our region.”

“It’s encouraging whenever state and federal investments make their way to the local counties because when those tax dollars come back home, a community wins,” said Rep. Brian Kirkland, D-Delaware. “When a whole community rises up, it lifts others. This is a great investment in Delco. I look forward to see this funding in action.”

“This is the government making the right investments in its veterans, women, children and people in tough places,” said Rep. Jennifer O’Mara, D-Delaware. “We have survivors in Delaware County because of this kind of collaboration.”
