Harkins announces $200,000 grant for Community Health Net

HARRISBURG, March 31 – State Rep. Pat Harkins, D-Erie, today announced Community Health Net has been awarded a $200,000 Community Primary Challenge grant through the state Department of Health.

The grant will enable Community Health Net to increase access to primary care services by hiring a part-time physician and adding an additional five exam rooms to the clinic.

"This clinic has connected thousands of Erie residents and children with primary care, vision, dental and many more services," Harkins said. "I am pleased this grant will help it continue its unwavering commitment to the community."

The Community Primary Challenge Grant Program works to increase access to primary medical and dental services to Pennsylvanians. Since the program's inception, it has awarded more than 100 grants totaling $14.4 million to local community organizations throughout the state.
