Harkins presents Erie with $200,000 in state funding
HARRISBURG, Oct. 14 – State Rep. Pat Harkins, D-Erie, recently presented the city of Erie's Bureau of Police with $200,000 in state funding to help the Motorcycle Division acquire new motorcycles for city law enforcement.
"Erie residents have been rocked by the growing number of gang-related crimes and other violence occurring throughout the city," Harkins said. "By providing local police with new equipment, we are ensuring their ability to respond quickly to crime and the public's safety. The state funding for these motorcycles will free up city money for other projects."
Harkins secured the grant through the state Department of Community and Economic Development. He noted that the new motorcycles will help cut rising costs of maintaining the city's current, aging fleet.
