Hornaman comments on Gov. Rendell's budget

HARRISBURG, Feb. 5 – Rep. John Hornaman, D-Erie, made the following comments Tuesday in reaction to Gov. Ed Rendell's budget address.

"I'm especially interested in the energy field, having had an energy bill pass last year. I think we have to move forward, especially on the biofuels initiative. We do have a new biofuels plant in Erie.

"I think my main goal is to make sure it gets passed on time. I think we have plenty of time to work on the details of this. There are going to be hearings for the next several weeks where, when we listen to the testimony at these hearings, that's how we find out how these different budgetary issues affect our people back home."

Hornaman also said that if for some reason the budget is not passed by June 30, he plans to reintroduce his legislation from last year, H.B. 1755, which would provide emergency funding to keep Presque Isle State Park open.

"The park is so critical and so crucial to the economy – not just to Millcreek, but to all of Erie County," Hornaman said.
