Hornaman resolution unanimously adopted by House
HARRISBURG, Oct. 5 – State Rep. John Hornaman, D-Erie, announced that his resolution (H.R. 433) recognizing the week of Oct. 7 through 13, 2007, as National Newspaper Week in Pennsylvania was adopted by the House this week.
“Newspapers have played an important part in the history of both Pennsylvania and our nation,” Hornaman said. “By informing the public of complete and accurate information about their communities, newspapers have stood as a pillar of democracy for us all.
“In celebrating National Newspaper Week, we in turn honor freedom of speech and a free press and encourage community service, participation and responsiveness in the everyday lives of citizens in our Commonwealth.”
The resolution was adopted unanimously by a vote of 196-0.
