Sainato announces $6,551 recycling grant for New Castle
HARRISBURG, Jan. 29 – State Rep. Chris Sainato, D-Lawrence/Beaver, announced that New Castle, Lawrence County has been awarded a $6,551 grant under the state Department of Environmental Protection's Recycling Performance Grant Program.
Sainato said the grant amount is based on the 780 tons of material New Castle recycled in 2008 and the municipality's population. The grant is in addition to other funds that DEP allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
Recycling performance grants are awarded by DEP to provide incentive to help communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in Pennsylvania communities and recycling-related market expansion.
