Sainato announces $9,027 pollution prevention grant
for Lawrence and Butler counties
HARRISBURG, March 3 – State Rep. Chris Sainato, D-Lawrence/Beaver, announced that PA Cleanways of Lawrence and Butler counties has been awarded a $9,027 state grant for its household hazardous waste collection program.
The grant funding will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating household hazardous waste collection events at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds last year.
Sainato said the grant was awarded through the Department of Environmental Protection's Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program.
The Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Act provides grants to counties and municipalities to develop and implement pollution prevention education programs for households and small businesses. The grants can be for up to 80 percent of eligible costs.
