Sainato announces Lawrence County arts institute will receive grant

HARRISBURG, Aug. 4 – State Rep. Chris Sainato, D-Beaver/Lawrence, announced that the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in Lawrence County will receive a $15,593 grant.

The grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and will be used to fund a variety of arts activities and programs at the Hoyt Institute.

The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts houses more than 50 arts classes and workshops, 24 annual exhibits, annual cultural festivals and school programs in two stately 1917 mansions on five acres of New Castle’s residential North Hill. To encourage an awareness, understanding, appreciation, and practice of the arts and humanities through visual, educational and enrichment programming for all ages remains its primary goal.

Last year, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' successful partnership strategy resulted in 60 of Pennsylvania's counties receiving state arts dollars. In 2007, PCA Partners distributed a total of $1.83 million in state funds to 781 local applicants, more than doubling the numbers from 1996.
