Sainato reminds students to apply for
House of Representatives Scholarship program
HARRISBURG, Dec. 15 – State Rep. Chris Sainato, D-Lawrence/Beaver, has announced that high school seniors who plan to attend a Pennsylvania college, university or career school can apply for a four-year scholarship provided through the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarship program.
"I believe it is a good idea for students in my district to take advantage of this scholarship program and apply as soon as possible," Sainato said.
Sainato said two scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, community service and financial need. Scholarships can be renewed for each of a student's four years of undergraduate study.
The deadline to apply is March 1.
The scholarship program is administered by the Foundation for Enhancing Communities, which uses the nowU Pennsylvania 529 College Savings Program managed by the Pennsylvania Treasury.
Sainato said this is the sixth year that the House of Representatives is providing the scholarship. It is funded by private donations, including gifts from former and current House members, and does not use tax dollars or public money.
