Sainato announces $16,193 recycling grant for Lawrence County
HARRISBURG, Dec. 22 – State Rep. Chris Sainato, D-Lawrence/Beaver, announced that Lawrence County has been awarded a $16,193 grant under the state Department of Environmental Protection's Recycling Grant Program.
Sainato said the grant amount is based on 2,087 tons of material Lawrence County recycled in 2007 and the county's population. The grant is in addition to other funds that DEP allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
Recycling performance grants are awarded by DEP to provide incentive to help communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in Pennsylvania communities and recycling-related market expansion.
