Gibbons announces local sewage enforcement grant
HARRISBURG, April 15 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Lawrence/Beaver/Butler, today announced that Economy Borough in Beaver County was awarded a $167 sewage enforcement grant.
The grant will reimburse half the costs of enforcing state sewage regulations.
Gibbons said the grant funding will help the borough ensure that on-lot septic systems are safe and that other sewage enforcement provisions are carried out properly.
"This grant program allows local governments to ensure our communities have healthy water supplies and proper sanitation," Gibbons said.
Pennsylvania’s sewage facilities law and grant program was enacted in 1966. The program helps municipalities establish uniform standards for on-lot systems and prevent public health and environmental problems that result from substandard or malfunctioning systems.
