Gibbons: New license plates for veterans now available

HARRISBURG, Nov. 20 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons today said veterans in Lawrence, Beaver and Butler counties can now display their pride for their particular branch of military service with new license plates for honorably discharged veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

"Western Pennsylvania has one of the largest concentrations of veterans of any place in the nation, and this new series of license plates will help all of us to recognize those who sacrificed to protect our freedom," Gibbons said.

Gibbons said the new plates have the state's standard colors of blue, white and yellow along with the emblem or logo for the particular branch of service on the left side of the plate. Pennsylvania is printed at the top of the plate, with the name of the applicable branch of service at the bottom.

"I was proud to sponsor a resolution that unanimously passed the House that recognized October as Agent Orange Recognition Month," Gibbons said. "These new license plates are a great way to pay tribute to all of our veterans who have protected our nation and served around the world."

Gibbons said honorably discharged veterans can get PennDOT's MV-150 form, which can be used to order the special license plates, at his constituent service offices in Ellwood City, Slippery Rock and New Sewickley. A certified copy of the veteran's DD-214 paperwork and payment of a $20 fee is required.

Images of the new plates and the required forms are also available online at www.dmv.state.pa.us under the "Military Personnel/Veterans" link.
