Gibbons urges students to apply for House of Representatives scholarship program
HARRISBURG, Dec.14 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Lawrence/Beaver/Butler, is encouraging high school seniors who plan to attend a Pennsylvania college, university or career school to apply for a four-year scholarship provided by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
"The House awards two scholarships each year to students attending a public or private school in Pennsylvania, and I urge students in my district to apply," Gibbons said. "Both scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, community service and financial need."
The deadline for application is March 1.
Gibbons said applications can be downloaded at www.pahousescholarship.com, or by contacting his constituent service offices in Ellwood City office at 724-752-1133, Slippery Rock at 724-794-1215, or Rochester office at 724-773-7499.
This is the sixth year that the House of Representatives is providing the scholarship. It is funded by private donations, including gifts from former and current House members, and does not use public money or tax dollars.
It is administered by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, which uses the nowU Pennsylvania 529 College Savings Program at the Pennsylvania Department of Treasury.
