More than $15,000 awarded to Beaver County environmental council

 

HARRISBURG, March 27 – State Rep. Robert F. Matzie, D-Allegheny/Beaver, said the Pennsylvania Resources Council, Beaver County will receive a $15,754 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.  

 

The funding, awarded under the under the Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program, will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating a household hazardous waste collection event at Bradys Run Park on October 22, 2011.

 

"This funding represents our state's commitment to aiding communities in environmental and conservation efforts," Matzie said. "DEP's investment will allow the Pennsylvania Resources Council to continue to expand and improve upon those efforts."

 

DEP's Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program provides grants to develop and implement pollution prevention education programs for households and small businesses.

 

The Pennsylvania Resources Council, established in 1939, is one of the Commonwealth's oldest citizen action environmental organizations. Its mission is to lead and promote individual and collective actions to preserve Pennsylvania's environmental resources for each generation.
