April 27, 2009

You have probably seen or read the news about swine flu showing up in the United States. As the chairman of a House Health and Human Services subcommittee, I want to make sure you have these basic facts:

·         As of this morning, there have been no reported cases in Pennsylvania.

·         There are simple, everyday actions you can take to stay healthy, such as washing your hands often with soap and water or using an alcohol-based gel sanitizer, especially after you cough or sneeze. For a short list of more ways you can protect yourself and your loved ones, click here.

More information is available on the Web sites of the state Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

As always, if you have a question about this or any state-related concern, please contact my office at 412-471-7760.
