Legislators to speak at rally against proposed civil-unions ban Monday
HARRISBURG, May 2 – At least seven state legislators are scheduled to speak Monday at a Capitol rally against a proposed state constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage and civil unions in Pennsylvania.
The "Rally for All Families" is set for 1 p.m. Monday, May 5 in the state Capitol Rotunda.
Legislators scheduled to speak include:
- state Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny;
- state Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila.;
- state Sen. Vincent Fumo, D-Phila.;
- state Sen. Jim Ferlo, D-Allegheny/Westmoreland/Armstrong;
- state Sen. Connie Williams, D-Montgomery/Delaware;
- state Rep. Steven Nickol, R-York/Adams;
- state Rep. David Steil, R-Bucks.

Frankel noted that the proposed amendment (S.B. 1250) would go much further than existing law by banning civil unions, which enjoyed 65 percent support in a recent Pennsylvania poll.
