Hearing set for Wednesday on Frankel bill to create hate-prevention fund
HARRISBURG, Sept. 9 – The House Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing Wednesday on a bill (H.B. 51) introduced by state Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, that would create a Prevention of Hate Activity Fund to help the state respond to and prevent discrimination and hate-motivated incidents and violence.
The committee, which is chaired by Rep. Thomas Caltagirone, D-Berks, will hear from Frankel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 in Room 418 of the Main Capitol, Harrisburg. At 10:15 a.m., Stephen Glassman, chairman of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, is scheduled to speak in favor of the bill.
