Santarsiero announces recycling grant for Newtown Township
HARRISBURG, March 8 – State Rep. Steven J. Santarsiero, D-Bucks, today announced a $65,913 recycling grant for Newtown Township.
The grant is based on the 2,755.6 tons Newtown Township recycled during 2007 and the township's population.
"Household recycling is one of the fundamental ways individuals can make a real difference in preserving our environment," Santarsiero said. "It is really great to see such a strong commitment from the residents to protecting our environment by reducing waste and making this area such a great place to live."
This grant is awarded under the Recycling Performance Grant Program of the state Department of Environmental Protection and is designed to provide an incentive to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth through job creation and market expansion.
