DeLuca lauds property tax relief to homeowners in 32nd District
PENN HILLS, May 1 – State Rep. Tony DeLuca, D-Allegheny, has announced the state will provide property tax relief to homeowners in the 32nd Legislative District this year, now that the slots revenues from the state's gaming facilities have reached the $400 million threshold needed for economic relief.
DeLuca said this year’s distribution marks the first-ever provided under the Taxpayer Relief Act, which he voted for in 2006. The tax cuts will be reflected in the school property tax bills homeowners receive this summer.
"The homeowners in my district will receive even more of a school property tax reduction than the state average of $169 and that is good news to hard working families in my area, "DeLuca said.
DeLuca said the estimated property tax relief per homeowner in local school districts is as follows:
The Property Tax Relief Fund contains nearly $613 million, which will be distributed to the state’s school districts for property tax reductions.
In 2006, DeLuca voted for gaming legislation that was developed to reduce homeowners' property taxes.
In 2007, the gaming revenues helped to expand the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program to help 540,000 Pennsylvania senior citizens receive $234 million in property tax relief.
