DeLuca announces local law enforcement grant for Penn Hills
HARRISBURG, July 14 – State Rep. Tony DeLuca, D-Allegheny, today announced that Penn Hills has been awarded a $44,972 state grant for its local law enforcement program.
DeLuca said the grant, awarded through the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, is part of a $5 million annual grant program developed and approved by the legislature as part of the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act.
The grant money will help local law enforcement agencies enforce and prevent the unlawful operation of illegal slot machines and video poker machines.
"This grant will help police in my district stop illegal slot machine operations," DeLuca said. "I am pleased that law enforcement officials are being awarded the resources to investigate and prosecute illegal gaming violators."
DeLuca said the Gaming Control Board is dedicated to protecting the financial interests of citizens through the funding of local law enforcement efforts in identifying slot machines that make cash payouts but result in no tax revenue to the state.
