Costa reminds constituents his office can help with Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program
HARRISBURG, Sept. 16 – State Rep. Paul Costa, D-Allegheny, reminds constituents that his office can provide forms and help them fill out and check the status of state property tax or rent rebate applications.
"We are here to provide this service to constituents free of charge," Costa said.
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is open to income-eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 or older, 50 or older and widowed, and 18 or older with a disability. The income limit for homeowners is $35,000; the income limit is $15,000 for renters. Applicants only have to include half of their Social Security or federal railroad retirement Tier I benefits as income. The maximum rebate is $650.
Costa said the deadline to apply for a rebate on one's property taxes or rent paid in 2008 is Dec. 31, 2009. He said that eligible residents who have not yet applied are encouraged to do so.
