New veteran license plates now available

HARRISBURG, Nov. 20 – State Rep. Marc Gergely, D-Allegheny, said new license plates being released by the state Transportation Department will allow veterans to display the pride they have for their particular branch of military service.

The plates are available for honorably discharged veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

"Generations of veterans have served their nation around the world to protect the freedoms that Americans enjoy every day," Gergely said. "These new license plates will help veterans show their respect to their branch of service and will help the rest of us to recognize their bravery."

Gergely said the new plates have the state's standard colors of blue, white and yellow along with the emblem or logo for the branch of service on the left side of the plate. Pennsylvania is printed at the top of the plate, with the name of the applicable branch of service at the bottom.

Honorably discharged veterans can get PennDOT's form MV-150 to order the plate at Gergely's constituent service offices in White Oak and Munhall. A certified copy of the veteran's DD-214 paperwork and payment of a $20 fee is required.
