Rep. Kortz’s office to offer seniors free tax preparation help

DRAVOSBURG, Jan. 7 – State Rep. Bill Kortz, D-Allegheny, announced today that his constituent service office in Dravosburg will offer free income tax preparation assistance to constituents in the 38th Legislative District during tax season.

The free tax assistance, offered by AARP Foundation, will begin Feb. 4 and end April 14.

Appointments must be made in advance, and can be scheduled for one of 10 time slots on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. During those times, trained volunteers will be available to help senior citizens over 60 with filing their federal and state income tax returns.

Those interested can make an appointment by stopping by Kortz’s Dravosburg constituent service office located at 751 Pittsburgh McKeesport Blvd., or by calling 412-466-1940.

“Many people in my legislative district have a hard time preparing their own taxes and cannot afford to have their taxes done by a professional,” Kortz said. “If you are someone in this situation, I encourage you to call or visit my office and make an appointment to take advantage of this valuable, important and free service.”
