Smith and Pippy secure $167,020 for Mt. Lebanon Library improvements
MT. LEBANON, Jan. 16 – State Rep. Matt Smith, D-Allegheny, and state Sen. John Pippy, R-Allegheny/Washington, announced today that they recently secured $167,020 in state funding for much-needed improvements at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
The lawmakers said the funding will be used to replace carpeting, automatic doors and rooftop air conditioning units at the library, which is located at 16 Castle Shannon Blvd. in Mt. Lebanon.
“Our libraries are cherished community resources that provide all age groups with a wide variety of services and programs,” Pippy said.
“We need to be sure that our local libraries have funding to continue enriching the lives of those they serve. This grant will allow the Mt. Lebanon library to use its annual budget for other expenses,” Smith added.
The grant was awarded through the state’s Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund Public Library Facilities Grant Program.
The mission of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library is to provide informational resources, programs and services for the personal enrichment, education, and enjoyment of all citizens and for the betterment of the community. More information about the library is available online at www.mtlebanonlibrary.org.
