Solobay plans event honoring local Korean War veterans

WASHINGTON, June 3 – State Rep. Tim Solobay, D-Washington, is hosting an event in August to honor the 48th Legislative District's Korean War Veterans and family members of deceased veterans.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at American Legion Post 175, 168 Park Ave., Washington.

"It is my privilege and pleasure to take a moment to honor our local Korean War veterans for their service and sacrifice to this great Commonwealth and this great nation," Solobay said.

Each veteran at the ceremony, or family members of deceased veterans, will receive a House citation and medal honoring their service to our country. In addition, there will be free refreshments courtesy of Solobay and his staff.

Veterans are asked to register for the event and may do so by visiting Solobay's Web site at www.pahouse.com/Solobay, or by calling his Washington office at 724-223-2114 and providing the veteran's name, time and branch of service, phone number and address.

The 48th Legislative District includes part of Washington County consisting of the city of Washington; the townships of North Bethlehem, North Franklin, North Strabane, South Strabane, Somerset and District 1 of Amwell; and the boroughs of Bentleyville, Canonsburg, Cokeburg, East Washington, Ellsworth and Houston.
