Grant for $62,500 to assist the National Road Heritage Corridor

HARRISBURG, Jan. 15 – State Rep. Peter J. Daley, D-Washington/Fayette, announced that the National Road Heritage Corridor has been awarded a $62,500 grant from the state Community Conservation Partnership Program.

Funding will be used to improve tourism infrastructure and the Main Street Uniontown program that will enhance visitors' experiences and attract new tourists and businesses.  It will also be used to work with Washington County to implement its Preserve America designation and the National Scenic Byway Program to bring new funding opportunities for transportation improvements and safety to the National Road Corridor.

"The historic significance of this road is unprecedented," Daley said. "About 90 miles of road in Pennsylvania make up the national corridor and include many historic homes, monuments and museums on the way."

The Community Conservation Partnerships Program (CCPP) is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and is comprised of the Keystone Recreation Park and Conservation Fund, the Environmental Stewardship Fund (Growing Greener 1), the Growing Greener Bond Fund (Growing Greener 2) and several federal funding sources.

The CCPP program is administered by DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organization, land trusts, and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.
