Daley announces recycling grant for Washington Township
HARRISBURG, March 9 – State Rep. Peter J. Daley, D-Washington/Fayette, announced that Washington Township, Fayette County, has been awarded a $547 grant under the state Department of Environmental Protection's Recycling Performance Grant Program.
Daley said the grant amount is based on the 76.6 tons of material recycled in 2007 and the township's population. This grant is in addition to other funds that DEP allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.
Recycling performance grants are awarded by DEP to provide an incentive to help communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and to promote economic growth in Pennsylvania communities and recycling-related market expansion.
