New business opportunities focus of seminar
HARRISBURG, Sept. 15 – Area residents and small-business owners are invited to join state Rep. Bill DeWeese for an upcoming seminar on opportunities that are available through two new state programs.
The event begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Stover Hall, Waynesburg University, 51 West College Street.
"My office often receives inquiries about assistance with start-up business opportunities and we decided to sponsor this forum so local entrepreneurs could learn firsthand about two new programs available from the Commonwealth," said DeWeese, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington.
The first presenter, the Pennsylvania Securities Commission, will explain the benefits of its new program, the Entrepreneur Education Program. EEP is intended to educate small-business people, as well as professionals who advise them, on the fundamental principles of the Pennsylvania Securities Act of 1972, and how, when used properly, the provisions of that act can assist companies in raising capital.
Following the PSC presentation, there will be an informational session provided by the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program. PennTAP historically assists Pennsylvania businesses by providing a limited amount of free technology assistance and information, on a confidential basis, to help resolve specific technical questions or needs. PennTAP officials have been asked to speak regarding their new Utility Bill Analysis program, and how that program could assist each business. This particular program is available to large and small businesses.
To RSVP for the program, contact DeWeese’s constituent service office in Waynesburg at 724-627-8683.
