UNIONTOWN, April 30 – State Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Fayette, announced that his constituent services offices in Uniontown and Connellsville have applications for a program that gives bonuses to military veterans who served in the first Persian Gulf War.
Mahoney said the program provides veterans with $75 per month for each month they served in the war, up to a maximum of $525. In addition, the program pays $5,000 to prisoners of war and to the families of troops who died in active service in the 1990-91 Persian Gulf Conflict.
"I am inviting all Persian Gulf War veterans to contact either of my constituent service offices and get an application to apply for the bonus program," Mahoney said.
The Fayette County legislator said to be eligible for the bonus program, a veteran must have served on active duty in the Persian Gulf Theater of Operations between Aug. 2, 1990 and Aug. 31, 1991 and received the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Also, the bonus applicant must have been a legal resident of Pennsylvania during the time of service and must have served under honorable conditions.
