Mahoney: Veterans workshop June 18 in Uniontown
UNINOTOWN, June 12 – State Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Fayette, is reminding Fayette County residents about a workshop he is holding next week that will provide important information for local service members and veterans.
Mahoney said the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at Uniontown VFW Post 47, Main Street in Uniontown.
"I am encouraging all service members, but especially recently discharged veterans and active-duty military, to attend the event and learn about the services and benefits that may be available to them, "Mahoney said.
Mahoney said at the event, people will be able to sign up to participate in a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 at the Uniontown Firemen's Social Hall, Dunbar Street in Uniontown.
"I am hopeful we can collect 100 pints of blood to be donated by veterans and their families to other veterans and their families," Mahoney said.
The veterans program will feature information on Social Security benefits, transportation, employment opportunities for veterans and their families, long-term care, military rights and VA clinic information, among other materials that will help many active-duty military and recently discharged veterans.
More information on the event is available by contacting Mahoney's constituent service office in Uniontown at 724-438-6100.
