Ohiopyle borough to receive $1.3 million grant for sewer project
HARRISBURG, July 21 – State Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Fayette, announced today that Ohiopyle borough will receive $1.3 million in Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority funding.
The project is expected to create 10 construction-related jobs as well as 25 jobs with developer Ohiopyle Land Holdings, LLC, and three additional jobs at the Ohiopyle State Park over three years.
The project will improve water quality through the removal of storm water infiltration during peak wet weather events.
"I am pleased that this project will create jobs and reduce the storm water runoff on the borough's sewer system," Mahoney said.
The Fayette County legislator said financing is being provided to the borough in the form of principal forgiveness and will not have to be repaid.
Mahoney said the Pennvest award is part of the state and federal program to provide assistance to the owners and operators of substandard and deteriorated water and sewer systems throughout the Commonwealth.
Pennvest is an independent agency that was established in 1988 under the late Gov. Bob Casey and the General Assembly.
