Pallone hosts House Majority Policy Committee tour of Alcoa Plant

ARNOLD, Jan. 19 – The state House Majority Policy Committee toured the Alco Technical Center in New Kensington today.

State Rep. John Pallone, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, a member of the committee, said it was important for his fellow House members to see the facility and the great things that Alcoa is doing for the nation, the Commonwealth and the local region, including the Alle-Kiski Valley.

"This research and technical center is the largest light metals research and development facility in the world and employs 685 people. In addition, the Alcoa Foundation community-based grant program has helped countless local nonprofit organizations," said Pallone, who serves on the Alcoa Technical Center Community Advisory Board.

Pallone noted that in 2009, the Alcoa Foundation grant investment in the Alle-Kiski Valley was $115,000, benefiting veterans' organizations, senior citizens, middle school students, victims of violence and the economically disadvantaged.

Also participating in today's tour were the House Majority Policy Committee chairman, state Rep. Mike Sturla, and other committee members: state Reps. Mark Longietti, Dante Santoni, Chris Sainato, Jaret Gibbons and Robert Matzie.
