Pallone announces $2,500 state grant for underground storage tank cleanup
HARRISBURG, Feb. 3 – State Rep. John Pallone, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, announced that Randall Stear in Parks Township, Armstrong County, is being awarded an Underground Storage Tank Pollution Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
The $2,500 grant will be used to reimburse the cost of draining, cleaning and disposing of the contents of an underground storage tank.
"This grant will allow for the proper cleanup of this underground storage tank. Such work is vital to ensure pollutants don't leak into our environment," Pallone said.
The Underground Storage Tank Pollution Grant
program was created in 1989 to help
homeowners and small businesses pay for the repair or removal of underground
storage tanks that are leaking or otherwise presenting a hazard to the
environment. To be eligible, the tanks must have a capacity of 3,000 gallons or
less and be used to store heating oil that is used on the premises.
More information about the state’s Underground Storage Tank Pollution Prevention Program and how to apply for a grant is available by visiting www.dep.state.pa.us.
