Pallone announces $1.8 million bridge project getting under way

LOWER BURRELL, April 1 – State Rep. John Pallone, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, announced today that the reconstruction of the Route 366 bridge in Plum borough and Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, is under way.

The two-span bridge is being widened and the approach roadway will be reconstructed so it safely ties into the widened span.

"The Route 366 bridge is a major thoroughfare from the Alle-Kiski Valley to Greensburg, the Westmoreland County seat, and is heavily traveled by many people every day. The work being done will cause traffic delays and be an inconvenience for a lot of people. But this is an important project that, in the long run, will improve safety and traffic flow," Pallone said.

Pallone noted that the Route 366 bridge also connects with Route 380 to Monroeville and the Pennsylvania Turnpike and is an alternate route to Pittsburgh.

Traffic will be narrowed to a single lane with a temporary signal while work is being done.

The cost of the project is estimated at more than $1.8 million and will be performed by Beech Construction Inc. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
