Petrarca announces
$936,000 low-interest loan
for Westmoreland County project
HARRISBURG, July 20 – State Rep. Joseph Petrarca, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, today announced that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority has approved a low-interest loan for a Westmoreland County infrastructure project.
Petrarca said the Municipal Authority of Washington Township will receive a $936,267 low-interest loan to upgrade and install sanitary sewers and a pump station in the Upper Pine Run area, which is currently served by malfunctioning systems operating at a 52 percent malfunction rate.
This 20-year loan is approved at 1 percent for the first five years and 1.62 percent for the balance of the term. Additional funding for this project has been provided through a $2.49 million H2O PA grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
Petrarca said Pennvest, created by the General Assembly in 1988, is an independent state agency offering low-interest loans and grants to communities throughout Pennsylvania to fund sewer, storm water and drinking water maintenance and improvement projects.
