Two Westmoreland businesses receive state energy-efficiency grants
HARRISBURG, Nov. 17 – State Rep. Joe Petrarca, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong, announced today that two businesses in Westmoreland County will receive state grants to implement energy-saving measures.
Country Manor Motel, a division of Mafra Corp., will receive $8,750 to purchase and install a high-efficiency boiler to conserve energy at its Apollo location. Kodyn Products Co. will receive $1,714 to purchase and install energy-conserving insulation in its Loyalhanna facility.
"Well-designed energy-efficiency projects can help our local small businesses cut their operating costs and increase their competitiveness in the marketplace, while at the same time conserving energy and helping to improve the environment," Petrarca said.
The state Department of Environmental Protection administers these grants as part of the Small Business Energy Efficiency program, originating out of the Alternative Energy Investment Act of 2008, which provides a 25 percent reimbursement grant up to a maximum of $25,000 to enable Pennsylvania small businesses with less than 100 employees to utilize equipment that promotes energy efficiency.
