LIHEAP grants increased, enrollment extended
HARRISBURG, Feb. 8 – State Rep. Matt Bradford, D-Montgomery, today announced that Pennsylvania's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program will increase cash grant amounts by $100 and extend the program through April 2.
The program helps income-eligible households pay for heat during the winter months and is administered by the state Department of Public Welfare. A family of four with an annual income of up to $33,075 can qualify for this assistance.
The program also provides crisis grants to families who are facing heating emergencies.
"LIHEAP's closing date has been extended from March 15 to April 2," Bradford said. "This will give many families who need assistance with their heating bills more time to enroll in the program."
Bradford said cash grants for this winter are expected to average $326.
Bradford said residents can obtain information about LIHEAP and applications through his constituent service offices (610-222-3490 for Worcester and 610-270-1150 for Norristown), online through DPW's Web site, www.dpw.state.pa.us, or the Montgomery County Assistance Office at 610-272-1752.
