Cambria County to receive state sewage enforcement grant

PATTON, Oct. 1 – State Rep. Gary Haluska, D-Cambria, announced that the Cambria County Sewage Enforcement Agency will soon receive a $74,241 sewage enforcement grant.

Haluska said the grant will help the agency pay for its sewage permitting and enforcement responsibilities.

"This kind of state funding helps to shield Cambria County's residents from higher sewage permit costs or even increased taxes," Haluska said. "I am pleased that the state is continuing to support the Cambria County Sewage Enforcement Agency's great work. It's important for the state to help local agencies cope with the cost of enforcing state sewage laws."

The grant is reimbursement for 50 percent of the agency's expenses incurred while enforcing state sewage laws. Haluska said the funding was awarded under the Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant program administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection, established by Act 537 of 1966.
