Training program for cement masons accepting applications
HARRISBURG, April 15 – State Rep. Camille "Bud" George, D-74 of Clearfield County, says applications will be accepted on selected dates for a cement mason pre-apprenticeship program.
Applicants must register and obtain an application in person from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 21 through April 25 and April 28 through May 2 at the A.J. Furlan Building, 2606 California Ave., North Side, in Pittsburgh.
Selected applicants from western Pennsylvania will be enrolled in a non-paying, pre-apprenticeship program. Those qualifying through the pre-apprenticeship program as opportunities become available will be accepted into the three-year registered apprenticeship program of Cement Masons’ Union, Local 526.
The apprenticeship program – no jobs are guaranteed -- requires on-the-job training and evening classroom instruction.
Besides appearing in person for an application, applicants also must:

● Be willing to travel and have dependable transportation;
● Return completed application, high school transcript or GED certificate and Social Security card before May 16;
