Rep. George: Help for Stinky Run is in the works
HARRISBURG, Sept. 29 – State Rep. Camille, D-74 of Clearfield County, today said that interim help for residents plagued by flooding along Stinky Run in Clearfield Borough appears imminent.
"The state Department of Environmental Protection has notified me that it is wrapping up details on a grant to remove flood debris and obstructions along the tributary," Rep. George said. "This project would help protect residents before the larger project – installing adequate and protective box culverts – gets underway in 2010 or 2011."
Rep. George said his amendment to House Bill 823 of 2005 doubled the capital budget appropriation for flood-control projects to $22 million.
In other matters, Rep. George said that the DEP has announced it is awarding grants of $22,459 and $14,839 to the Clearfield County Sewage Committee and the Central Pennsylvania Sewage Authority, respectively, to reimburse half of the eligible expenses for providing sewage enforcement.
