Hanna: Bill providing $335 million in funding for Penn State goes to governor
HARRISBURG, July 4 – State Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Clinton/Centre, said a bill providing more than $335 million to the Pennsylvania State University has passed the legislature and will be signed into law by the governor.
House Bill 2313 will fund:
· education and general expenses - $267 million;
· agricultural research - $25 million;
· agricultural extension services - $30 million;
· recruitment and retention of disadvantaged students - $454,000; and
· Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State affiliate) - $13 million.
"Penn State is a leader in agricultural education and research," Hanna said. "The aid from the state will help the school continue its role as a land grant university and support the number-one industry in Pennsylvania.
"Providing funding to help disadvantaged youth get a higher education will give some of our brightest young minds a chance for the future."
