Conklin: Centre County awarded environmental grants

HARRISBURG, Feb. 6 – Centre County state Rep. Scott Conklin said today that Centre County will be awarded nearly $350,000 in state funding through the Department of Environmental Protection's Growing Greener program.

A $35,491 grant will be awarded to Penn State University and a $312,432 grant will be awarded to the Centre County Conservation District for water quality-related projects at Halfmoon Creek and Little Fishing Creek, respectively.

"This funding allows us to target area watersheds," Conklin said. "It's real dollars and cents flowing into communities to protect our most precious natural resource – water."

Funding through the department's program is intended to improve watersheds, stormwater runoff, acid mine drainage and environmental education programs.
