Conklin: grants available for nursing school students
STATE COLLEGE, June 22 – Centre County state Rep. Scott Conklin has announced the approval of $7 million in funding for nursing education grants for the 2009-10 academic year.
The grants, administered through the Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation, are designed to aid in the creation and retention of nursing programs across the state.
"I am extremely pleased with the amount of money that is now secured for nursing programs," Conklin said. "The funding will provide an opportunity for nursing programs and future nurses to flourish throughout Pennsylvania."
The funding will be awarded among 124 nursing schools and will be used to provide financial aid to people pursuing a career in nursing as well as increase the recruitment and retention rates among nursing programs throughout Pennsylvania.
In order to receive a nursing education grant, an award proposal must be submitted to PHEF. For more information about available grants, visit www.FuturesInNursing.org.
