Centre County receives local environmental grants
CENTRE COUNTY, Dec. 8 – State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Centre, announced today that two Centre County townships will be awarded more than $5,000 in state funding from the Department of Environmental Protection.
Conklin said both Patton and Halfmoon townships will be reimbursed more than 40 percent of the total eligible amount for performing sewage enforcement provisions under state law.
Patton Township will be awarded $1,687 and Halfmoon Township will be awarded $3,583 under the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act, which assists municipalities with proper planning in various types of sewage disposal situations.
"Proper planning, proper maintenance and proper financial resources all help contribute to a healthier environment," said Conklin. "This environmental funding helps us to continue to be better stewards of all of our natural resources."
