Korean War recognition ceremony to be held Oct. 11 at Janesville VFW
HARRISBURG, Aug. 15 – State Rep. Camille "Bud" George, D-74 of Clearfield County, today said a special recognition ceremony for local Korean War veterans will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Janesville VFW.
"Too often, the Korean War is ‘America’s Forgotten War’ and that is unacceptable," Rep. George said. "Our veterans’ sacrifices should never be forgotten, and the veterans of the Korean War deserve our thanks."
Local Korean War veterans, or their friends and relatives may pick up registration forms at Rep. George’s district office, 275 Spring St., Houtzdale or by calling the office at 378-6279 or toll free at (1) 866 523-5279. Needed are the veteran’s name, rank, and branch of service, time of service, as well as addresses and phone numbers.
The registration deadline is Sept. 26. The Oct. 11 ceremony will include medal presentations, tributes and food.
