Taylor to host free senior fair Sept.12

Vendors from state, local and federal agencies to participate

HORSHAM, Aug. 29 -- State Rep. Rick Taylor, D-Montgomery, is inviting residents of the 151st Legislative District to his first Senior Citizens’ Expo on Friday, Sept. 12.

The free event will be held from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. at Spring House Estates, an ACTS Retirement-Life Community, at 728 Norristown Road in Lower Gwynedd.

Taylor said the expo, offered as a community service, will feature a variety of exhibitors from state, local, county and federal agencies offering information on programs of interest to seniors. In addition, Taylor’s staff will be preparing state property tax and rent rebate forms for seniors who may qualify under the program.

Free blood pressure and heart/stroke assessments will be provided by Abington Memorial Hospital. Also, the Pennsylvania Treasurer's Office will help residents conduct unclaimed property searches. Individuals will be able to determine if the state is holding any property or money from such sources as old stock certificates or bank accounts of which they are the rightful owner.

Spring House Estates is a mission-driven, nonprofit retirement community that is home to more than 500 older adults and is committed to providing compassionate care and services to seniors. Founded in 1978, Spring House Estates offers a combination of independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care on the same campus. It is owned and operated by ACTS Retirement-Life Communities.

Refreshments and door prizes will be available.

For additional information, district residents can contact Taylor’s constituent service office at 215-441-1030 or by visit his Web site at www.pahouse.com/Taylor.
